MINOR TRAUMA PRE-COURSE

Format

This precourse will be offered in a one-day live session at the congress site.

Overview

This session will take place over a day involving EPs, orthopedic surgeons and immobilization technicians ED nurses. This session will be exclusively practical and interactive. Experts will show how to carry out the various casts and wound closures and answer the course attendees’ questions.

Objectives

The goals of this course are:

  1. Radiological pitfalls in trauma emergency : Learn to read a bone x-ray
  2. To learn how to manage and suture wounds in the ED.
  3. To learn the relevant immobilization techniques of the upper and lower limbs.

Aims:

  1. To give a basic overview of suturing techniques and allow mentored workshop practice.
  2. To give a basic overview of how to read a bone x-ray
  3. To give a basic overview of Plaster Immobilisation Techniques and allow mentored workshop practice.

Outcome: Enable confident application of above in a clinical environment
