Global Emergency Medicine

Global Emergency Medicine is about the intersection between any area of emergency care, and global health. By global health, we mean contexts of access- or resource- limited healthcare. While global health normally implies healthcare delivery in  low or middle income countries (LMIC), inequity happens in high income countries too, for example, among marginalised populations. Global Emergency Medicine is about working for justice and excellence in emergency healthcare, globally!

Format

The Global Emergency Medicine pre-course will be delivered in two parts: a series of short virtual lectures delivered a few weeks before the conference, and in-person workshop in room a, on Wednesday 23rd September afternoon and Thursday 24th September morning (see below more detailed programme), in Panacéa Conseil centre, 22 Rue Georges Picquart, 75017 Paris, Paris, France (please note it is different location than EUSEM Congress 2026!)

The course will be submitted for CME accreditation by the EACCME®.

The virtual lectures will cover a wide range of global EM topics (see list below).

The in-person workshop will comprise two half-day sessions, each of four workstations. Delegates will rotate through the stations in groups of 5-6. Stations will focus on themes drawn out in the lectures (see programme below).

Objectives

  • Justify the Significance of Global EM: Articulate the critical role of emergency medicine in improving health outcomes and equity on a global scale.
