Emergency Airway Management in the Emergency DepartmentEmer
Emergency Airway Management
This precourse will be offered in a one-day live session on Thursday, 24 September, 8:30-18:00 CEST, in room 153, at Palais des Congrès de Paris, Paris, France.
Course overview
Emergency Airway Management is based on the concept of “Learning Spaces“, offering maximum flexibility. Participants can move freely between six different areas, depending on their interests and individual learning needs. The course will be submitted for CME accreditation by the EACCME®.
Each Learning Space provides an innovative combination of theory and practice:
- Posters with QR codes give direct access to the American Protected Airway Course e-learning. Short, concise videos and podcasts can be conveniently accessed via mobile devices.
- Practical application follows immediately: participants can practice their skills on high-quality simulators and refine their techniques through interactive exercises with our experienced faculty from DGINA.
In addition, the course includes simulations, engaging lectures, and case discussions, all based on the latest international literature and current guidelines.
Emergency Airway Management: More Than Just an “Anatomically Difficult Airway”
In emergency medicine, a “difficult airway” is far more than just an anatomical challenge. Medical conditions, trauma, hemodynamic instability, pathophysiological considerations, teamwork dynamics, and the need for rapid decision-making under stress all play a critical role. The PAC addresses these complex factors, preparing participants for the real-world challenges of airway management.
Learning Objectives
The course objectives align with the content of the learning spaces, providing tailored knowledge and skills for both beginners and specialists. As the learning is self-directed, participants can choose content that suits their level and interests.

Course Content
Emergency Airway Management (EAM) is a lifesaving procedure critical in the emergency department. Drawing inspiration from the Protective Airway Collaboration (PAC) and its teaching methods, this course bridges theoretical airway knowledge with practical application during high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios where it matters most.
Foundational and advanced airway concepts are introduced in “digital learning spaces,” accessed by scanning QR codes on a poster parcours. This enables individual, self-paced learning in a judgement-free environment, using headphones and participants’ personal mobile devices.
Following the theoretical component, participants engage in hands-on practice with our instructors, using high-quality equipment.
The course objectives align with the content of the learning spaces, providing tailored knowledge and skills for both beginners and specialists. As the learning is self-directed, participants can choose content that suits their level and interests.
